SESSION NOTES

Before your next Diablo Shareware session.

Use the shareware button for this session

DiabloWeb presents a choice between its shareware route and a route that uses a game-data file. Choose Play Shareware to match this page. Once its first load completes, enter Single Player, follow the hero-creation prompts and start your session.

The shareware build is a limited version of Diablo. Seeing Tristram or creating a hero does not mean the complete commercial campaign has been included. This player is intended for visitors who want to try the Diablo browser experience associated with the Radiant Optimizer games discussion before considering a full owned installation.

Mouse-led play needs the right focus

The reviewed shareware session uses clicks for menus, walking and selecting targets. A click on the surrounding page will not move your character; make sure you are interacting with the game area itself. Read the current game prompts for inventory, character and other shortcuts.

Fullscreen gives the scene more room on a laptop display. It does not add touch controls or establish that a phone is supported. This site’s layout adapts to small screens, but the embedded project determines its own input compatibility and runtime performance.

Know where a save belongs

Your Diablo session runs on the DiabloWeb project inside the player. RadiantGames cannot inspect, back up or transfer that project’s game storage. Before clearing browser data, switching a profile or moving to another device, check the project’s current save and export instructions.

The Save button beside the launcher has a different purpose: it bookmarks this RadiantGames page on the current device. Recent launches also record a page reference, not a saved hero. Use the game’s own menus for character progress and any available save operations.

The full-game option has its own requirements

A full DiabloWeb installation uses DIABDAT.MPQ from your own compatible copy of Diablo. The project’s data-file selection is the place to follow that route; this site supplies neither the archive nor a substitute download. Check the maintainer’s instructions for the file and supported version before importing.

If the player stays blank, compare it with the original DiabloWeb site in a separate tab. An embedded-storage restriction can affect one browser context while the standalone project still works. Start with that comparison before clearing data or repeating the shareware download.

Diablo Shareware launch questions

What do I choose to try the free version?

Choose Play Shareware, wait for the download, then Single Player and the hero-creation flow.

Why does the project also ask for DIABDAT.MPQ?

That is the separate full-game route. It requires the data archive from your own compatible Diablo copy; it is not needed for the shareware button described here.

Does Save on RadiantGames back up my hero?

No. It saves this launcher to your local shelf. Game progress belongs to the embedded project and its own save system.
