The classic Snake loop, ready for a short break
Guide the snake to food without hitting a wall or its own body. Each meal lengthens the snake, so a safe route at the start can become a trap later. This edition increases its speed as you score: leave room for the next turn instead of steering straight towards every piece of food.
Keyboard and swipe controls
Press Start inside the board. On a computer, turn with the arrow keys or WASD. On a phone, swipe in the direction you want to travel; start your gesture inside the board so the surrounding page does not receive it. A reversal directly into your own neck is blocked. Turn early when the snake gets faster.
Pause before you look for another game
P or Escape pauses a running attempt. Pause first when you want to read the guide or explore the pictures beside the player. Fullscreen enlarges the same embedded window; returning from fullscreen keeps that window. The score and speed indicators remain part of the board. Sound can be muted from the speaker control.
A practical route to a better score
Keep a wide loop around the edge while the snake is short, then use the free centre to approach food. Before taking a shortcut, check where your tail will be after the turn. Best scores are kept on this device when browser storage is available. The bookmark heart saves this page address, not the current moving snake.
Which Snake edition is this?
This is the open-source Web Games Snake by mashukui, hosted under the MIT licence with keyboard and swipe support. It is a single-player grid game, separate from multiplayer snake arenas and from Google’s own Snake. For another short session, try the number puzzle 2048 or the falling-fruit challenge in the recommendations.
