Which Shaman build should you work toward?
For a lightning-focused Shaman, inspect the Elemental route first. For a weapon-oriented plan, compare Enhancement. For the totem-themed milestones, inspect Restoration before assuming its name means the same thing as a healer in another game. Pick the next reachable milestone, then read its current tooltip and prerequisite.
The original v0.139.0 character screen starts Shaman with Lightning Bolt and presents a spell pool alongside the talent trees. Your permanent talent plan and the spells you obtain during a run are related decisions, but they are not the same menu. This guide checks the original menu rather than claiming a measured best build or copying a World of Warcraft allocation.
The checked Shaman 10 / 20 / 30-point milestones
| Tree | 10 points | 20 points | 30 points |
|---|---|---|---|
| Elemental | Lightning Overload | Elemental Fury | Elemental Mastery |
| Enhancement | Rockbiter Initiation | Elemental Sunder | Stormbound Echoes |
| Restoration | Call of the Elements | Reincarnation | Totemic Wrath |
The live panel opens rows after five points spent in that tree and describes a maximum of 51 talent points. The displayed milestone is a destination, not a complete legal allocation: linked prerequisites and the points you have earned still matter. The panel also provides three Spec slots and says respecs are free.

Elemental: make the lightning plan coherent
The inspected path runs through Lightning Overload, Elemental Fury and Elemental Mastery. Choose a milestone within your current budget instead of distributing the first few points across all three trees. Read the live ranks before expecting a particular extra hit, critical bonus or cooldown result.
For the next run, note whether the problem is reaching scattered enemies, surviving a dense wave or progressing against a boss. Those are different tests. Keep a working earlier stage while you build toward the later milestone; a screenshot of a finished allocation does not tell a fresh class how to survive the opening.
Enhancement: check the complete requirement chain
Rockbiter Initiation, Elemental Sunder and Stormbound Echoes are the checked Enhancement milestones. Compare the current tooltip with the weapons and spells you can actually obtain. A weapon-themed route can require preparation that is absent from a low-point character or from a different equipment set.
Use a separate Spec slot for a comparison when available, and note the points and equipment used. Changing a talent plan, gear and difficulty together makes the outcome difficult to explain. This page has not measured a best-in-slot set or a guaranteed boss-clear time.
Restoration: inspect the totem route in this game
The checked sequence is Call of the Elements, Reincarnation and Totemic Wrath. Inspect those abilities in the original menu before ruling the tree in or out based on its name. The original Shaman description pairs chain-like storms with totems; that does not establish an exact summon count, revival interval or damage multiplier.
Keep notes on which choices let you recover from a crowded wave and which help finish an encounter. Surviving for longer while making no boss progress is a different result from clearing efficiently. Read the actual spell and talent descriptions after an update rather than relying on a similarly named class guide.
Keep the plan separate from your game save
Use ASBuilder to record priorities and stages; compare its data with the original game version before importing a code. A copied build code does not contain your earned talent experience or restore a lost character.
Before changing devices or restoring progress, export a backup in the original Options → Saves menu. For a difficult view, use the Azeroth fullscreen help. The game opens in its own tab; a RadiantGames favourite keeps the page address, not the Shaman’s equipment or points.
