Browser game save progress: what does your shelf keep?

Understand browser game saves versus launcher bookmarks. Check the original host, profile and export options before clearing data or returning to Uplink or Diablo.

Start with what you can see.

01

You pressed Save launcher

You kept a page link, not a game-progress backup.

02

You are returning to a character or level

Use the same project and browser context first.

03

You plan to clear data or switch device

Check the project’s export and restore options before changing it.

THE NEXT USEFUL CHECK

Keep one clear step in view.

Your RadiantGames shelf stores launchers

The shelf keeps the IDs of saved players and recent launches in this App’s local browser storage. It lets you find the player page again. It does not read the embedded project’s storage, copy a hero, record a mission or export a game archive.

Clear bookmarks & launcher history removes those App records. It is separate from deleting data at the game’s original host. A different browser or device does not automatically receive the same shelf.

Progress is controlled by the selected project

Diablo shareware and Uplink provide their own game interfaces. Use the current save, load or export functions documented there; the App cannot confirm that a third-party save has been written. QuakeWorld is a live arena session, and saving its launcher does not preserve a match.

Before closing a window, check the game’s menu rather than relying on a directory bookmark. Assets used to start the game and progress saved during play are different records. A compatible full-game file is not a backup of a current character.

Return to the same host and profile first

Start with the same original project, selected version and browser profile you used before. Browser storage is associated with a site and context; changing hosts, profiles or devices may present a fresh game state. The original-project tab and an embedded context can also encounter different storage rules.

Private browsing and browser-managed storage removal may affect persistence. This guide does not promise that locally stored data will survive indefinitely. Use a project-supported backup when it matters, following its own restore instructions.

Before clearing data or changing devices

  1. Identify the original project and game version you used.
  2. Look for its documented save, export and restore actions.
  3. Keep a backup through the supported project flow, if one exists.
  4. Check the backup instructions before removing the original data.

Do not use a generic browser reset as the first answer to an input problem. Start with scene focus and game bindings, or compare the original tab for a blank window. Those checks do not require deleting stored progress.

Browser storage reference: MDN storage quotas and eviction. Game-specific save behavior remains controlled by each project.

Questions about this session

Does Save launcher back up a Diablo hero?

No. It remembers the player page. Use DiabloWeb’s current game and save instructions for progress.

Will my shelf sync to another device?

No. The App shelf is device-local browser storage and has no account sync.

Can this App verify my game save?

No. It cannot inspect or guarantee a save inside an independently hosted project.
