Start with the current Hunter menu
Hunter’s inspected starting ability was Auto Shot. Its three trees were Beast Mastery, Marksmanship and Survival. The v0.131.0 menu shows 10/20/30-point milestones, a 51-point maximum and named prerequisites for capstones. Read the current spell and tree requirements instead of importing a preset from a different version or a different WoW game.
This guide records the original menu checked on 31 October 2026. We did not complete comparative damage runs. “Best Hunter build” depends on the problem you are solving, equipment and difficulty; the verified tooltips are a better starting point than an unexplained tier label.

Beast Mastery: reach Bestial Wrath through the pet milestones
The visible milestones were Tame Beast at 10 points, Frenzy at 20 and Bestial Wrath at 30. Bestial Wrath requires 30 points in Beast Mastery plus one point in Frenzy. Its tooltip adds a raptor alongside the wolf and makes pet bites hit two additional nearby enemies for 100% bite damage.
This suggests a route built around pets and clustered targets. It does not mean the player can ignore positioning or that every encounter has enough nearby enemies for the extra hits. Watch whether your actual difficulty is keeping space, reaching a boss or finishing that boss before changing away from the route.
Marksmanship: Kill Shot changes the opening spell
The inspected milestones were Piercing Shots, Rapid Fire and Kill Shot. Kill Shot requires 30 Marksmanship points and one point in Rapid Fire. Its tooltip starts the run with Aimed Shot, shortens its cooldown by 15% and says kills ready it again, at most once every two seconds.
Keep the reset limit in mind when judging fast waves. A kill-reset mechanic and steady single-target damage are different questions. Compare runs with the same equipment and difficulty rather than attributing an item upgrade to a talent change.
Survival: check the actual capstone name
The current Survival tree showed Entrapment at 10 points, Explosive Ammunition at 20 and Wyvern Sting at 30. That is why this page does not call Frost Trap the current final talent. A similarly named Hunter tree elsewhere can have a different arrangement.
We verified the name and gate shown in the tree, but did not validate Wyvern Sting’s complete effect in a run. Read the current tooltip before committing points. If you are comparing crowd control with pet damage or Aimed Shot resets, write down what changed and the encounter where it mattered.
Gear stars and talent points solve different problems
The Collection balance and gear stars are separate from class talent XP. A difficulty unlock can apply broadly while a piece’s upgrade gate still refers to the class and area. Inspect the owned item rather than assuming a Mage unlock or a global difficulty unlock completed Hunter’s equipment progression.
Use the Marks guide for the inspected multipliers and item-gate example. We do not publish a universal upgrade price because the reviewed unowned piece did not expose a spendable cost.
Plan a fair next-run test
For a pet route, check whether the additional targets are present in the encounters you care about. For Marksmanship, check the Aimed Shot start and whether kill resets help your wave clearing. Keep the rest of the setup stable and record the outcome, not just the largest hit you noticed.
The local checklist is a planning aid, not a game integration. Back up progress before moving browsers, and use the original save controls. Return to the build overview if you want to compare another class.
